Is California on track to meet it's 2045 carbon-free electricity goal?
Join tonight & hear from Dr. Leonard Rodberg who will review the state's data & discuss how the widely used computer models may be misleading.
Len Rodberg has previously reported on his critical analysis of New York’s climate plan, using a new hourly-dispatch computer model that shows how solar and wind will, and often will not, power the grid. He found a large gap in power output which has to be filled by an as-yet undefined DEFR, a firm dispatchable emission-free resource. Nuclear power is the only source that has been demonstrated to be able to meet this need.
He has now applied this model to California, a state that claims to be leading the way to a carbon-free future. He finds that this claim is false and that widely used computer models (in California, New York, and elsewhere) are seriously misleading policymakers who think they’re addressing climate change. He will show his findings and discuss how we can move beyond just renewables and forge a new path for climate policy.
